I Believe
“Abraham believed God, and it was
counted to him as righteousness.” - Romans 4:3 ESV
Everyone is familiar with the word
“Amen.” But have you ever taken the time to consider what it
really means? We normally say amen when we end our prayers and it is
frequently understood to mean “so be it” or “it is so.”
Abraham declared that he believed
God and he was righteous before God. Abraham declared his
belief in God with the Hebrew word “Aman.” In Hebrew aman
means to trust or to stand firm in a belief. At the heart of
the meaning is the idea of certainty, firmness, dependability,
trustworthiness and to have a steadfastness of faith in God.
Our word “Amen” has its roots in
the Hebrew word “Aman” which is not only that I believe but that
I firmly believe. With just one word, our prayer is conveyed into
righteousness which is to firmly believe.
I Believe - “Aman”
